The Tura Murad Minaret, dwarfed by the Mohammed Rakhim (Feruz) Khan Madrassah, stands alone, reminiscent of an abandoned chess piece. Nestled between domestic houses, the minaret is all that remains of the original mosque, which was destroyed during the Stalinistic purges of the 1930's. The entire minaret is covered in green butterfly tiles, indicating the Persian slave labour used for its construction, who would often incorporate Zoroastrian symbols into their designs.
